Joyce Younce Strickler Carter

Joyce Younce Strickler Carter, 76, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 9:30 P.M. at Indian Path Medical Center after a lingering illness. She was born in Sullivan County, and has been a resident all of her life. She is retired from Sullivan County School Board where she spent many years at Miller Perry School. Joyce has been  a member of Fordtown Baptist Church all of her life and was a Sunday School Teacher for the first, second, and third grades. She enjoyed gardening. She was a great mother, grandmother and homemaker. Joyce adored her grandchildren and took them to school everyday and spent countless hours with them.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, George W. Strickler and Alice Louise Younce Strickler. Her brother, George Strickler, and sister, Dolly Isbeal.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Orbin J. Carter, of the home. Sons, John Russell Carter, of Jonesborough, and Tony Keith Carter, of Sevierville, Tennessee. One daughter, Karen Louise Stewart and husband Gary, of Jonesborough, Tennessee. Grandchildren, Hannah Stewart and Rebekah Stewart, of Jonesborough, Tennessee. Brother, Thomas Strickler, of Gray, Tennessee. Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
The family of Joyce Carter will recieve friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at Tri-Cities Funeral Home, Blountville Chapel, with funeral services being conducted at 7:00 P.M. in our chapel with Rev. Bryan Moore and Rev, Frank Proffitt officiating. Music will be provided by Tony Gore. Private burial will be conducted at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens.
 Tri-Cities Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Joyce Younce Strickler Carter.
